Inspired by an xkcd comic, Cultural Carbon Dating makes it easy for you to marvel at the inevitable passage of time. The basic idea is that you pick a starting event, and then the database figures out which other notable events are closer in time to that starting event than they are to the present. It can be somewhat shocking to find out that things your mind categorizes as “recent” are actually closer in time to something your mind categorizes as “old” than they are to the present.

Eventually, I plan to add the ability for you to create an account and add in events from your own life in addition to the events I’ve populated the database with.
